New date for Utazás fair

Hungexpo announced that Utazás (Travel) 2007, the largest Hungarian travel exhibition, will be held between 29 March - 1 April, two weeks later than the "normal" date. The reason for the postponement is that the originally planned first day, Thursday, would be 15 March, a national holiday in Hungary when many people take a long break. The preceding and the following week coincide with other international travel fairs (ITB - Berlin, MITT - Moscow) , while during the first week of March another exhibition is being staged in Hungexpo's Pavilion A. Hungexpo consulted with the organisers of other travel fairs in the countryside to avoid further overlaps and Hungexpo also promised that for 2008, the date of the event will be fully discussed with the travel trade and the early March date would be reserved for the tourism fair.
The Association of Hungarian Travel Agents and Tour Operators is not satisfied with the decision, but accepts Hungexpo's reasoning. Outbound travel agents prefer Utazás to be held in early March so that they have time to modify pending contracts with partners according to demand.
