5-star opening close to the Balaton

The first 5-star hotel in Somogy county (south of Lake Balaton) will open in the second half of October. Hertelendy Mansion Hotel, built between Kaposvár and Nagykanizsa, offers 12 double rooms, two suites and six apartments plus a wellness centre, equestrian centre, an event hall for 300, organic farming, tennis, golf, angling and a shooting range.
The hotel is owned by Swiss investors. General manager is Mr. István Gyenesei, who was GM of the former hotel in the building. Further information: www.hertelendykastely.hu.

Budapest Marriott Hotel renovation

Reconstruction of the Budapest Marriott Hotel will start soon and will last until the end of 2007. The size of the rooms will be extended as balconies are to be integrated into rooms, therefore the hotel façade will also change. The size of the conference rooms will be extended by 300 square metres to 1400 square metres, and the number of function rooms will be increased from the current five to 11. The restaurant is also scheduled to receive a facelift with a new design and new concept. The hotel will remain fully operational during the redevelopment.

Casa Perla opens in September

The first member of the new Hungarian Casa Group, the 4-star Casa Perla, opens in Siófok's downtown at the end of September. The 92-room wellness and conference hotel will offer meeting rooms, a wellness centre, the Granario restaurant, the Carafe bar, the Coppa cafeteria and the Piazza terrace-bar. The operator of the hotel expects both corporate and leisure travellers.
The other hotel owned by the group will open in Murau (Austria) by the end of 2006. Casa Montana will be an elegant ski-resort, offering 29 rooms and various indoor and outdoor services and facilities. The La Casa restaurant will open in Hajós Street (Budapest downtown) in 2007.

Healthy Choice at Danubius

Danubius Health Spa Resorts (DHSR) and Danubius Hotels introduced the Danubius Healthy Choice (DHC) selection from 1 September. The selection of healthy foods is available under the Wellness menu. DHC will appear at breakfasts, lunch and dinner buffets and salad bars, and DHSR hotels will also offer an organic breakfast selection.

New apartment hotel in Budapest city centre

The 4-star City Hotel apartment hotel opens 1 December in Hársfa Street (VII. district, Budapest). The facility offers 24 apartments and hotel services, and is operated by Airport Hotel Ltd., operator of the low-cost parking lot at Ferihegy. The company's other investment, the 3-star Airport Hotel located close to Budapest Airport, is scheduled to open next year.

Delay at Egerszalók

The opening of the spa complex in Egerszalók (close to Eger, north Hungary), scheduled for this September, has been delayed. The inauguration of the thermal-wellness spa is now expected later this year. Construction of the 200-room, 5-star hotel has also halted, for financial reasons; the opening has been postponed to the second half of 2007.
